Practical Wardrobe Solutions: The Better Way to Tuck Your Jeans Into Boots

Boots are a staple to any cold weather wardrobe.  But if you aren't wearing them with dress/skirt or tucking your pants into them, boots are nothing more than a boring foot warmer hidden under a pair of jeans.  The most fashion forward way to wear your boots is to tuck your jeans into them.  Unless they are denim leggings, this can be tricky.

How about this for a solution?  A $10 product that quickly and easily solves the problem: The Jean Strap.

Even when wearing skinny jeans, I find that my pants start to bunch around the knees after sitting down for a while.  A pair of these straps will help keep your denim where it belongs.

Are You Rockin' The Side Braid?

It's all over the runways, think Alexander Wang, and magazines like March 2010 issue of Lucky.  I can't be happier about this because it has been my go-to look for those days I wake up a little too late to start my hair from scratch.  Anyone who has ever tried to style an up-do on freshly washed hair knows that a day's worth of dirt on your hair to start this look helps a lot.

BellaSugar has a great video to show you how to create this look.

Are you an "Office Girl"?- A Driving Force Behind China's Economic Growth

Jezebel.com and the Financial Times are reporting that  the Chinese economy is being fueled by its "office girls"- a group of female consumers under the age of 32 with an effective savings rate of zero percent.  Essentially, they are spending everything that they are earning extravagant luxury items, cosmetics and dining out.

Are you one of these "office girls" working just to afford your shopping habit?

I was once a "nothing at the end of the month club" gal... one of those people who spend everything they earn.  While finishing up my 8th year of 10 years in college (YES, really), I worked at a popular San Francisco boutique for extra spending cash.  I won't name the place, let's just say they "really like you" :)

Anyway, I can safely say that I spent more money in their boutique than I ever made there.  It's not just that the pay wasn't very good, they just had way too many great items of clothing coming into the store on a daily basis to not leave home without.  Fashion addict?  Maybe.  Irresponsible at the time, definitely!  Even now, I'm the first to say my job is "like being an alcoholic and working as a bartender".

Is your wallet single-handedly supporting the economic state of at least one store?

Bay Area's First Ever Plus-Size Fashion Gala- this Saturday!!!!

I am so excited to be a part of this amazing event!  Being a plus-sized woman myself, I am glad that the fashion industry is waking up to the fact that not all women wear a size 2, nor do we want to.  For that matter, I'd like to see someone other than a walking hanger go down the runways (trust me, they're all skinnier in person than they are in the magazines).  I'm so excited to be covering this fashion show.... look for a blog post with all the 411 next week!
Countdown Begins in the Bay Area for the First Ever Plus-Size Fashion Gala
New York, NY, 1/26/2010: The models were selected, rehearsals have been underway, and in a little under a week and a half, Kiss the Curves: “The First Ever Plus-Size Fashion Gala in the Bay,” will be center stage on February 6, 2010 at the Historic Sweets Ballroom in Oakland, CA.

This historic platform, hosted by Bay Area's Quiet Storm 102.9 KBLX-FM radio personality, Sterling James, will allow plus-size designers such as Ashley Stewart, Igigi, Marie Denee, Corinthia Peoples Designs, Chocolate Sushi Couture, A Clothes Mind, Tru Diva and Isle’s of Paradise to debut their latest collections to an audience of media outlets, VIP guests, socialites and fashion enthusiasts under the direction of renowned runway talent coach, Charleston Pierce.

While the excitement is brewing for a successful event, the recent fatalities and devastation in Haiti has broken the hearts of the entire Kiss the Curves staff. Compelled to extend monetary help to the Haitian relief efforts, Executive Producer, Tracie Collins will donate proceeds from this monumental event to the Red Cross.

Advertising sponsors of Kiss the Curves includes, Clear Channel Radio, PLUS Model Magazine, Ashley Stewart, SKORCH Magazine, Lexus, Daily Venus Diva Magazine and Black Entertainment Monthly. Lead photography will be provided by celebrity photographer, Nana of 510 Media.
